India’s new speedster and Force India Protégé made us all proud by becoming the first Indian to win the F3 European Champion.
FIA F3 is the toughest junior racing category in the world. Through it, the racing world has got legends like Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Now, the 18 year old Mumbai driver, Jehan Daruvala has put his name into the mix too.
Jehan first showed his class when he clinched the second spot in qualifying at the Norisring circuit. The walls of the European GP aren’t the usual soft tyres but concrete. One mistake and the drivers find themselves going full speed into the crushing concrete. But, that didn’t seem to perturb the Force India prospect as he started at P2 and got off to a great start, passing and keeping the favourite Max Gunther behind him.
Even though the race was filled with yellow flags caused by crashes and accident, Daruvala kept his cool and got off to great restarts. He controlled the race start to finish and showed his skill against an experienced rival like Gunther, who has been racing in the Formula for 3 years.
Jeehan Daruval scored more points when he gave credit to his team Carlin Racing by saying “”I must thank the team for a fantastic car all weekend & everyone else around me who have been instrumental in my success.”
